"My name is Simon Muscat, I was born on the island of Malta. At the age of 18 I immigrated to Canada where I pursued an education in jewelry design. I love making jewelry, designing jewelry, and coming up with new functional pieces, this has now been my passion for over 30 years. Throughout this time I have explored many avenues regarding my art, including working with new materials, and techniques. About twelve years ago I had a rare opportunity to work with one of the world's foremost gem carvers, and as a result gem carving has now become an integral part of my jewelry making. Another aspect of my design work is to integrate the clasp mechanism into the overall design of the piece."
